It seems that Leeland are back on form with this their third album. The first "Sound Of Melodies" made us sit up and listen hard. "Opposite Way" however seemed to take them in the direction of production rather than writing some great songs. So I am glad to say that in my opinion Leeland have found a happy medium on their third album. There's still a lot of production on this album and the band have some really polished songs here. However the song-writing and lyrics bring this album up to the fantastic level that the first album achieved and that brought Leeland Mooring to Michael W. Smith's attention early on.
Some of the tracks that stand out for me on this excellent album are "Pure Bride", "Carry Me On Your Back" and "My Jesus" which is technically a Bonus Track. Each of these stands out both musically and because of the stories that they convey. This album as a whole is well written and memorable, with some great hooks and choruses. It is this kind of overall impression that the last album lacked, clever songs that stick in your mind and convey their message well.
This album has haunting melodies, and the vocals from Leeland really help that, especially on "Pure Bride" which just stuck in my mind for days and weeks after hearing it! The only negative really is that some tracks do seem to be a little over the top still with the production, but at least they have the lyrics to back it up! Of course this won't be everyone's cup of tea but I love this album, it's on my MP3 player to stay.
