Description

"Our faith has been fossilized too long. We need to go deeper. We're on the verge of an awakening, trading a kiddy pool Christianity for the deep things of God...In a world created by God, sustained by God, and renewed by God, nothing is more important than knowing God."

Purpiose, despair, triumph and tragedy can all lead to a greater knowledge of who God is and what He would have us do. Godology dives into these mysteries of God. Each chapter explores a facet of God, a spiritual discipline, and a practical expression of that truth. As you read this book, hold it up to the light of the Bible and see if God is as great as you think He might be.

Join the discovery of GOD'S POWER * GOD'S UNITY * GOD'S JEALOUSY * GOD'S VULNERABILITY * AND MORE...

The deeper we dig into God's attributes, the shallower we find ourselves. And the harder we shovel, the more difficult it gets. But God's not done with us just yet...

God-ol-ogy, what is that all about then? Well it's basically theology by another name. Theo means 'God' and 'ology' means knowledge or understanding. We make a big deal about people who do Theology in the church, but in it's very essence every believing Christian from the child to the pensioner is a theologian because they have a knowledge of God and are seeking to explore more of God in their lives.

Godology is a book written for younger people to help them understand some of what God is, using very accessible ideas and concepts, not to mention language that is understandable. This is a book that conveys a certain amount of the knowledge of the character of God, but without demystifying God, because let's face it to understand God completely is impossible for the human soul this side of heaven. However this begins to scratch the surface of uncovering the bits of God that we can comprehend.

As I said this book is written for younger people in a way that I found was not cliched and communicated not only the writer's understanding in his own words, but there are choice quotes and passages throughout from various people through the ages including Oswald Chambers and C.S. Lewis.

This is a well written, biblical book that I think would help a lot of young people not only from an academic point of view of their knowledge, but there is also encouragement for practical ways of spending time with God that aren't limited to just a quick bit of the Bible in the morning and a prayer over your toast at breakfast. Instead we are encouraged to labyrinth walk or meditate on God or a passage and focus on what it is really saying about the character of God.

This book communicates what it wants to say on the reading, but to really get into some of the depth of what Christian George is wanting to convey it's worth going through a second time and slowly digesting some of the advice and analogies! It may seem a bit pricey at £9.50 but it is worth it if you actually sit down and take it in!
